About Watch it here Joff’s Notes I thought it would be interesting to use chip-tone music for a story of the gods rather than the typical faux-epic stuff that these things usually attract. It was really fun and trickier than I thought. The resulting music was a bit of a mix between authentic 8-bit game sounds and bit-crushed live instruments. In the end I feel like it gave the film a sense of fun and nostalgia – especially for people who grew up with 8-bit

About ‘Pinocchio, Hisoire D’un Coup De Latte’ is a fun, witty and original interpretation of the story of Pinocchio. It originally toured around France in late 2011. www.barbarianphilosophers.org Joff’s Notes This was a really fun project. The approach was simply to write music that I felt described the characters in Pinocchio. The music and the production is based on the original story (were Pinocchio is a vindictive little shit) and not the Disney version. I found each character interesting and well defined – which lends itself easily to musical interpretation. Watch it on youtube HERE Joff’s Notes: This mockumentary style viral ad tells the story of three friends trying to recreate the famous Coke Summer commercial. Because of the fast turn around, much of the music is from Ack’s library unreleased tracks that were then edited, arranged, mashed up, digested several times and stuck back together again to fit the film. A bit like how a tailor would fit a suit if the tailor was an idiot. This musical suit also needed to fit the sprightly, well-toned body of current Coca-Cola marketing agendas. We did our research and got a feel for it. For maximum youtube hip-ness, it was decided to not make it seem ‘too underscorey’. The tracks needed to sound like they were already stand-alone tunes that ‘just happened’ to fit the cut of film in a natural

Articles and Hype: The Australian news.com.au Joff’s Notes: The Brewers Nose is an app for iPhone that allows the user to: Scan from over 500 beers (Scan the barcode of any beer to get detailed information about the style, taste and heritage of your beer). Locate specific beers using GPS. Compliment meals with the perfect beer. So the brief was to provide music for the numerous Cascade and other types of beer info videos to be used in the app. They needed to match the Cascade brewery campaign aesthetic, help create a flow between the performances, and not distract from the dialogue. We wanted to keep the music clear and simple while being careful not turn up the ‘quaint’ knob too

Joff’s Notes: The brief for this was “epic, epic, EPIC!” Epic? What flavour? We tried the Braveheart-war-tragedy-epic style but there was too much smiling and it didn’t quite feel right while the Zimmer-goddamn-hero-epic style just wasn’t much fun either… Morricone! Yes an ‘Ecstasy of Gold’- style epic-ness seemed to be bold enough while tapping into an iconic movie sound. Plot Summary: Polly the goldfish and her owner Mr. Larkin lead what could only be described as a fascinating life. Day in, day out, they wake up, eat, reflect on lost memories and go back to sleep. The two share a deep bond; a liking for routine, a fear of the world outside their homes, and on Saturdays: cornflakes. On an ordinary day, when they both thought the biggest excitement would be breakfast, something is falling towards them. Today, by coincidence the anniversary of the moon landing, a bizarre visitor will be forced upon them. It will be a small step for mankind, but a giant leap for Mr. Larkin… – Kjetil Andreas Knutsen Joff’s Notes: Bud Tingwell plays Mr. Larkin, an ex-pilot who, along with Polly the goldfish, lives a reclusive existence. That is, however, until he’s visited by the apparition of an astronaut, which forces Mr. Larkin to break out of his shell. The music is all from the point of view of Mr. Larkin himself. The score tips its hat to the dramaturgical and melodic styles of classic era films, which Mr. Larkin would have watched during his days as a young pilot. $quid (Short)

Joff’s Notes Look past, if just for a moment, the giant squid, the unlikely scenario, and the millions of dollars, and you’ll find $quid is essentially a film about friendship and redemption. The music aims to embody the drama in this friendship, whilst (in the spirit of ‘Jaws’) simultaneously represent the squid. This creates the idea of the squid being a manifestation of Chris’ nastiness and ill-treatment towards his friend. So when Chris defeats the squid through song, he not only releases his friend from the creature’s grasp, but also triumphs over this representation of all his nasty ways. Squid is currently being made as a feature length film due for release late

Plot summary: Rudiger, a banker, and Mr Salmon, a tycoon, a surprised when they meet each other for the first time. And the second. And the third… Hold on to your hats!
